Week 3 21/1/13 – 28/1/13
Tuesday – Monday
As I have been a bit slack with blogging I actually can’t
remember each day, however I will do a summary of what we did this week as its
events are important in understanding future references.
On Tuesday my east group went to the slums for the first
time to pick out our slum family we didn’t have much luck as many of the families
had power in the homes and they just didn’t see right. Then we were leaving and
Richard and Laurence quickly popped over to a house mad of mud and said that
they were a good family for us so we settled on that even though Winnie, Mary
and I hadn’t seen them; it just felt right. Then on Wednesday we all went to
the family to meet them and access any of their needs. There are two families one
woman who we believe works as a prostitute and has one child and has taken in a
street boy and then another woman who is the landlord and her husband works
very hard has four children I think and is pregnant, she has HIV and so do two
of her children. It is a very sad situation se we are going to try and bless
them as much as we can. On Wednesday we went shopping for items we thought would
be helpful to them; so we brought some food (rice, beans, portoe and fruit),
some shoes for the kids and then a container to put medicine in with about $20
dollars. Then on Friday we went and delivered them and the family was very
happy and grateful saying that God had answered their prayers. Then on Sunday
we went and visited the Watoto village were I washed clothes. It has been a
while and so I am trying to remember the events of week three in week six.
Anyway this gives you a general idea of week three and its events just for
future knowledge. Thinking of my mother this week, miss her dearly and can't wait to see her again. Peace out from Africa.
